Dear Pastor, Christian
Education Chairperson, Vacation Bible School Superintendent:
Some would seek a
magical kingdom for children—fantasy stories, adventurous
places, imaginary characters. Jesus offers a MAJESTIC
KINGDOM. In this Kingdom the stories and the characters
are real and the message is eternal. There is no price of
admission as children are welcomed through God’s grace. The
adventure is found in getting to know King Jesus.
The Iowa District West
Christian Education Committee and Camp VBS Committee invite
you to experience the “Majestic Kingdom.” Once again we
will offer a summer ministries resource that is
Christ-centered, Word-based, age-appropriate,
family-connecting, outreach-oriented, budget-sensitive,
hands-on, and size and site-flexible. The resource is
produced by a volunteer team of pastors and professional
educators, creative musicians and artists, and most of all
fellow servants who want children to enter Jesus’ kingdom
now and for eternity.
The 2011 resource again
includes five Bible lessons with a majestic focus: King
David, Queen Esther, Servant-King Jesus, spiritually armored
kingdom kids, and King Jesus on His eternal throne. Options
for all grade levels (including early childhood) are
included.
The “Majestic Kingdom”
manual will include theme-related music (“Bible-bops” and
more), opening skits, closing worship ideas, craft projects,
family newsletters, and mission activities. All resources
are also accumulated on a disk and are reproducible for and
adaptable to the local setting. Participating congregations
will also receive a theme gift for each child to take home.
A sample of several of
the curriculum pieces is included for your review. An order
form for “Majestic Kingdom” is also included. Congregations
are also invited to view past Camp VBS curriculums to help
make a decision for their summer ministry. Some
congregations have also used Camp VBS curriculum for summer
Sunday school or other children’s ministry experiences. The
cost for the whole resource is $225 per congregation ($125
for small or mission congregations with 25 children or
less). Congregations can examine the completed kingdom kits
and/or pick up their materials as a special introductory
event on Thursday, April 7 at the District office.
This is the fifteenth
year that a children’s ministry resource has been developed
by Iowa District West. The resource has been used in more
than sixty District congregations, in other districts across
the country, and across the ocean in foreign mission
fields. God’s kingdom has grown as the King has blessed
this ministry. Make it a majestic summer for your children!
Celebrating and serving
The King!
Rev. Bob Riggert, Executive Assistant and the Camp VBS
Committee
